Understanding the need to slow down

Understanding the need to slow down in a world when we are hopeful to come out of Covid 19.

This has been more of a HAVE TO SLOW DOWN as I am grieving the recent passing of my mom.  Some of my simple pleasures that I have put aside have been my personal care.  I recently scheduled a Hot Stone Massage at my favorite place.

A pedicure and manicure was in place for flip flop and tank top season.  In addition to my favorite hair care friend doing a special house visit when my roots needed to be touched up, my timing was not allowing me to travel to her and she was an angel and came to me.  These are just a few personal care items that I am doing or have recently done.

When it comes to quiet time…..I love nature and being outdoors and bird watching or even watching the hummingbirds visit blooming flowers.  The butterflies and bees buzzing around and the smell of fresh cut grass.  The feel of fresh tilled soil or a freshly planted flower pot.

Some of my joys are playing in the garden with my flowers and watching nature take its course with new sprouts or blooms coming.  Then there comes the deadheading and pulling of weeds and watering of the blooms.  Oh how I love nature and can get lost outside until someone (child) comes yelling for me and I hope they can’t find me as I feel lost in the weeds and blooms and I fear that it might be time for dinner and the family might be hungry.  I may have skipped lunch as I was lost outside without the iPhone or apple watch.

I will take all the little and large joys that involve hugging and telling my friends and family that I love them and thank them for being in my life.  This life of being a mother is tough as I realize how many sacrifices we make to feed and care for our families.  I would never trade it in for the world and so thankful my mom made all those sacrifices to teach me how to care for my family.
